I'm currently recruiting for one of my clients, a global Law Firm, a Business Development Specialist, based in their Paris office, to assist in the development and execution of the Firm's business development strategy in Paris and Europe.

The Business Development Specialist will take a lead role supporting the core practice areas in Paris on business development activities and supporting strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day business development operations for the Paris practice areas with particular focus on PEMA, PIF, PCG, Compliance and International arbitration.
  • Take a lead role in assisting with the preparation of pitches, RFIs and RFPs including research, coordinating collateral, and assembling materials using and sharing best practices from throughout the firm.
  • Maintain and manage Paris and Europe master materials to ensure the information is up to date and readily available for pitches and client meetings.
  • Collect, organize and maintain client lists, industry experience and related matter data in the Firm's experience database.
  • Oversee the directory process for Paris to ensure deadlines are communicated, submissions and referees are submitted on time, rankings are tracked, and recognitions are being used for marketing purposes.
  • Identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities, coordinate and provide supporting research for speaking and sponsorship opportunities and manage local relationships with conference organisers.
  • Participate in the production and presentation of client development events, assist with analysing data resulting from such events and helping provide summaries and recommendations to support business development plans.
  • Assist with the preparation of the weekly BD Marketing Calendar, internal newsletter and BD and Marketing update for the leadership.
  • Collaborate with the team on developing, refining and sharing firm-wide client development protocols, procedures and best practices.

Key Requirements:

  • University's degree required; Advanced degree a plus.
  • Fluent in French and English
  • 5+ years of experience serving in a similar business development role in a law firm or other professional services firm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Adaptable, flexible, strong client service skills.
  • Deal with complex material and concepts.
  • Handle multiple projects and maintain professional composure in high-pressure situations in a fast-paced, multi-authority and deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience navigating and utilizing databases and research tools. Knowledge and experience with PitchBook, Preqin, InterAction, Foundation and Capital IQ a plus.
