Our Client, an exciting start-up Fintech Bank, seeks an Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer to ensure that AI used by the bank is fair, explainable, legally compliant and bank policy aligned. This will include ongoing assessment of national, and EU AI best practice and rules and ongoing monitoring and testing of all AI and machine learning deployed by the Bank.Reporting into the CRO, responsibilities include
- Partner with the Chief Risk Officer, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer to ensure AI systems meet regulatory requirements under the EU AI Act, GDPR Article 22 (automated decision-making), MiFID II, and ECB governance expectations.
- Designing and maintaining the Bank's responsible AI Framework, covering fairness, explainability, accountability, transparency, and human oversight across all AI systems.
- Auditing of Conduct algorithmic impact assessments for all High-Risk AI systems as defined under the EU AI Act, including credit scoring, AML monitoring, and automated onboarding.
- Producing an Annual Responsible AI Report for the Board and senior management.
- EU A.I. Law of 2024 Compliance - enforce human-in-the-loop, high-risk protocols for consequential AI decisions affecting customers.
- Serve as the primary internal escalation point for ethical concerns about AI system behaviour and advise on ethical AI use cases before development starts.
- Review and approve AI model documentation, training data governance policies, and model cards prior to production deployment.
- Monitor deployed AI models for performance drift, emergent bias, and unintended consequences on an ongoing basis.
- Represent the Bank as “point of contact” in external regulatory dialogues with all EU, French, and other regulators regarding the application of A.I. within the bank, and industry working groups, and supervisory inquiries related to AI governance.
- Other related AI duties assigned by the Chief Risk Officer as appropriate.
You should be a graduate with relevant legal and/or computer/data science qualifications. While experience in AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, responsible AI or technology policy, (preferably within financial services or a regulated industry) is required as important will be your deep knowledge of the EU A.I. Law of 2024.
The office is in La Defense and role is office based although there will be some travel, mainly to Cyprus or New York. Also, there is an equity package with shares granted annually with a 3-year vesting period.The Bank operates an unlimited holiday scheme so provided you produce the required output, you can take unlimited holiday (providing dates don’t conflict with duties and are agreed by Management).
